(lack of) temperature control

So, I'm supposed to keep the temperature between 144 and 152 deg F.  I'm failing pretty bad at this right now, as my temperature readings are between the 150 to 160 deg F range.  I think I should've listened to the instructions when they suggested turning off the flames while the grain cooks, instead of leaving the heat at the lowest level.

My original intent was to keep the grain at a constant temperature, but it seems that even at the lowest level of heating the temperature will rise above the ideal range.  Now, I'm just going to monitor the temperature more closely so that I can turn on the heat when I need to.

Whew... 40 minutes left until the next step... the sparge!
