Wow, the sparge took much longer than I expected... especially because the strainer was perfectly sized to hold exactly the amount of grain that I had to strain. This presented a problem when I had to dump in the additional water to drain the grains of their sugars, causing some clumps of grain on the edges to fall into the wort.
Well, eventually I "screwed it" and got rid of a bunch of the grain and then re-strained the remainder.
Oh, so one thing that the brewing kit should've mentioned is that it helps to have three (3) pots capable of holding the required amount of wort while leaving some room for the strainer. The reason is that you need one pot to cook the grain, one to heat up the other quarter of water, and a final pot to hold the wort.
